Find Great Places to Stay, Eat, Play & More in the Wimberley Area

Wimberley, TX was established in 1848. Today, the picturesque village is a resort and retirement area in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Visitors to Wimberley (often misspelled Wimberly) are entranced by cool, shady pools beneath towering Cypress trees, frothy cascades on the Blanco River and sparkling Cypress Creek, green meadows and majestic hills. Visitors will also find an abundance of white-tailed deer.

Visitors are attracted to the area by the large number of things to do. Climbing, hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, golf, tennis, arts and crafts and camping are popular activities.

Recreational communities, bed and breakfasts, vacation resorts and youth camps dot the landscape.

The “Devil’s Backbone” is one of Texas’ most scenic drives. Officially RM 32, the “Devil’s Backbone” is a winding, razor-backed ridge overlooking Hill Country vistas. It extends from RM 12 just south of town and about 24 miles west of Blanco.

There are tons of arts and crafts galleries. The town is well-known for the many artists and authors who make their homes there. Hill Country scenes captured in oils, handicrafts, hobbies and souvenirs, are available in several quaint shops and studios clustered on and around the Wimberley, Texas “town square” at a casual joining of several roads.

The Wimberley Market Days, sponsored by the Lion’s Club, is held the first Saturday of the month from March through December. It is a bargain hunter’s paradise for the unusual, one-of-a-kind, hard-to-find something or other you’ve been looking for!

With its small town charm and lively arts scene, Wimberley makes the perfect weekend getaway. Whether you wish to spend your time mingling with local artists at the many galleries, antiquing or playing in one of the area’s cool rivers and streams, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

Just an hour’s drive from San Antonio or Austin, the Hill Country region has so much to offer. Wimberley, an especially scenic town in the Texas countryside, is a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
