Cave Without A Name presents “Sounds of the Season” Nov 26

Boerne’s Cave Without A Name will host “Sounds of the Season,” a concert of Christmas Carols performed by the a cappella quartet Tinsel, on Saturday, November 26, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Advance tickets are $30; and $35 at the door. Tickets and information are available at www.cavewithoutaname.com or by calling 830.537.4212.

Tinsel is an a cappella quartet of professional, classically trained vocalists. Their sound is a mix of the traditional and the contemporary, the sacred and the secular, and barbershop and jazz, according to Laura Mercado-Wright, one of the founders.

“We want a balance between having the audience feel satisfied they heard their favorite Christmas song, with at least one moment where they say, that’s really interesting,” Mercado-Wright said of the arrangements. “And you can’t overstate the impact of four voices singing in harmony.”

The four voices include Trevor Shaw, tenor; Laura Mercado-Wright, mezzo-soprano; Courtney Pierce, soprano; and Thann Scoggin, bass. All are trained vocalists with credits that include performing with the Boston Pops and other leading symphonies and operas, and the Grammy®-winning vocal ensemble Conspirare.

This will be the group’s first time performing in a cave.

“This is such a special venue,” Mercado-Wright said. “The cave will make it a different experience than you have in any concert hall. It’s going to be a special night.”

Boerne’s Cave Without a Name is located about 11 miles northeast of Boerne TX at 325 Kreutzberg Rd. It is a natural, living cavern, with unique acoustic properties. Concerts are held in the Queen’s Throne Room, in a setting of stalactites, stalagmites, drapery, flowstones, and more.

Seating is limited, and guests are reminded they need to walk down eight flights of steps.

Temperature is a constant 66 degrees in all seasons.

The venue offers a gift shop, pavilion, picnic and camping areas, full restrooms, and improved roads and parking. Activities include hiking trails, gemstone mining sluice, and geode cutting. The site offers limited number of RV sites with electric hookups.

Upcoming concerts include:

Dec 3 – Terri Hendrix & Lloyd Maines

Dec 17 – Winter Solstice with Celebration Circle
