A treasure nestled in the magnificent setting of the Texas Hill Country, Boerne (pronounced “Bernie”) is only minutes north of San Antonio, via Interstate 10.

Boerne (pronounced Bernie) grew from a village called Tusculum laid out in 1849. It was formally established by German pioneer settlers in 1851, and named for a German political writer. In and around the area, fishermen find fortunes in Hill Country lakes and streams. Hunters seek white-tailed and axis deer, wild boar, turkey, native and migratory game birds. Kronkosky Hill Located in Boerne, the Kronkosky Tower and grounds are home to the Benedictine Sisters’Monastery and their Ministries.

The Kronkosky Tower is dedicated to Albert and Bessie Kronkosky. The tower is now used as a prayer space by Omega Retreatants. Nearby is a St. Albert Head Start program for three and four-year olds. Another important part of the Ministries are the Omega Retreat and Health and Wholeness Centers, also located in Boerne, Texas.

Kerrville, and Fredericksburg, popular tourist destinations, are just a short drive. Bandera, the Cowboy Capital of the World, is also nearby.
