Hooray! You've discovered the Tipis, let the fun begin! Each cabin is about 30 feet in diameter, with sleeping for up to 6 in three beds (Tipi # 1, 6 & 7 have 2 queens and a modern, queen-sized foldout sofa). They are fully furnished and stay cozy in the colder months and nice and cool in the summer season. Each cabin has a small kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, and basic kitchen items that make it easy to cook simple meals. Each Tipi has a designated private bathroom with a sink, commode and large walk-in tiled shower. The bathrooms are located in separate buildings, close to each Tipi.
The camp is comprised of eight Tipis on one and a half acres with Guadalupe River access. Each unit sleeps up to 6 guests, Tipi 4 Red Cloud has 3 queen size beds and a cozy couch for extra seating. This 2 bedroom/one bath property is in a quiet residential area on Lake Dunlap of the Guadalupe River. New stove, dishwasher, and small appliances are in addition to the full size refrigerator. The room with the Queen size bed, and the living room have flat screen TVs with WiFi and Netflix connection. All beds including the Full-size Sofa bed have 450 count sheets. Earlier in May 2019 the Lake Dunlap dam experienced failure which resulted in a significant loss of water in the lake. Recently we have added stairs to the river/lake side for fishing and some other water recreation. The home sits on 17 acres with privacy and lots of space for your peaceful get away. Peter Bonn built this charming stone home for his wife, Caroline Lochte, shortly after their marriage in October 1859. Mr. Bonn farmed the land until 1869, when he divided the home-place between his two sons. Your hostess' grandparents purchased the property in the 1930's and continued to farm the countryside. During the home's existence, it has been a residence, a granary, and a barn. In 1994, your hostess revived the cottage to its present state as a charming getaway from hustle and bustle.
A large front porch invites you to enjoy the country quiet by use of rocking chairs. A living room, bathroom, and kitchen comprise the downstairs. The living room offers a comfortable place to sit and enjoy the television (limited reception with an antenna). With views overlooking the nearby valleys, the kitchen is fully equipped for light cooking. The bath has a shower. Looking out from the back porch, you will be entranced by endless pockets of farmland and meadows.
The original staircase that leads upstairs is steep, so be very careful! The bedroom is upstairs and takes full advantage of the uniquely pitched roof. The house, named in loving memory of my Mother, is so much like her ; graceful, peaceful, beautiful and understated!
The kitchenette area is roomy and attention to small things like snacks, teas, coffees, cereals, fruit, juices, milk, etc is obvious. There is plenty of room in the fridge for your own supplies, a microwave and coffee maker. The California King bed is so comfortable, we are always getting rave reviews on that. Linens are beautifully monogrammed and thoughtfully ironed to give you a feeling of luxury in the country! Miss Thelma loved taking care of her guest in her home, and the same gentle nature permeates this little house. The bathroom is just wonderful, beginning with colorful antique doors that came directly (untouched) out of the old main house! The jacuzzi tub has a peaceful view out the back, with no one (except maybe the deer) to bother you. All in all, the attention to detail makes Thelma's a real favorite for many couples that return again and again. From the porch you can enjoy the view of surround hills as well as the beautiful Texas sunrises and sunsets, a rainbow of colors! There is a wonderful community firepit to gather around for a nice glass of wine or cup of cocoa!

As such, our aim is to preserve the natural tranquility as much as possible. The property is park-like reserve, on a deep two mile section of the river between Lakes McQueeney and Dunlap. The river is about 6' deep off our dock and about 12'-15' in the mid-river. Because we are between the dams, there are no ski boats or tubers in your backyard. It’s like having the river to yourself! The cabin is surrounded by a ranch and backs up to the river, with another ranch on the opposite bank and only one directly neighboring property. Peace and Quiet! A stone throw south of the Austin City Limits, this cabin is situated in 2.5 wooded acres. While not in the class of a bnb, it is comfy, private and quiet. The land is inhabited by deer, raccoon, fox, owls, lizards and butterflies. There is an old stone well filled by an aquifer (legend states the well was built by Ben McCullough; the civil war hero). A large back yard is used for walks, bonfires and golfing/batting balls. Lounge in the dappled sun on the patio near a running pond surrounded with gardens. Prepare a leisurely bar-b-que. Talk late into the night by the fire pit.
This 100+ yr old cabin has been revived and furnished with love. Time seems to stop while soaking in the deep old claw tub filled with endless hot spring water . Drifting to sleep, become aware of crackling in the wood burning stove, a train whistle and the trickling pond. Breakfast choices are street tacos or pecans?
Its possible you'll be tempted to stay all day. However, the center of Austin or San Marcos, with music, swimming, fishing and kayaking are just 15-25 minutes from this retreat. (Circuit of the Americas is 18 miles through country roads.)
The first floor is an open plan living room/kitchen, while upstairs you will find a comfortable bedroom with a queen bed, and a full bathroom. There is a futon downstairs, which can accommodate two people. We also can provide up to two extra single beds by special request. We supply all bed linens and towels. We will do housekeeping and laundry before and after your stay, but a washer and dryer are available for your use.
Rates are based on occupancy by 2 guests. Additional fee of $10 per night per additional guest. Cleaning fee of $65 applies to all stays. Please note that 6% state hotel tax must be added for all stays of less than 30 days.

Kuehler Cottage is a 1/1 Guest House. It is nestled among huge pecan and oak trees, high on the banks of the Guadalupe River/Lake Dunlap. This one-bedroom cottage offers spectacular views of its waterfront.
Bring your kayaks, canoes, or fishing poles to use. Lake Dunlap had a spillgate failure causing the lake level to drop. You can do fishing or kayaking.
You can soak in our hot-tub with a view of the stars and the lake. We are only a few hundred yards from Comal Park where you can take a walk or bike ride.
Kuehler Cottage is located along the Guadalupe River/Lake Dunlap in New Braunfels, Texas. The historic city founded by a German Prince Carl Von Solms from Braunfels Germany in 1845.

The Austin Cabin is next door to a charming boutique wine vineyard, that often rents our cabin for their special occasions.
The Cabin is typically large enough for two-three families and is two story; the ground floor boast a chef’s kitchen with prep/sink island and is an open floor-plan. The adjoining dining room and living room(s) hold a massive two story rock gas fireplace separating the areas with soft views. There are two bedrooms with six beds and two full bathrooms on the ground floor. The master bedroom has two queen beds, a large walk-in closet and a large bathroom with twin vanities and a separate room housing the shower and toilet. The other downstairs bedroom has two bunk beds (4 beds) containing one full size bed and three twin-sized beds with a vanity/sink in the bedroom. Adjoining the double bunk bedroom is a full common bathroom. Upstairs holds two bedrooms and one full bathroom. The upstairs master contains two beds with a queen and a twin bed. The second upstairs bedroom is an open floor-plan (3 walls) containing two queen beds. The Cabin has wood floors and for very well behaved dogs, we are dog friendly.
